Autovit.ro: Romania’s Auto Market Had, In First 3 Months, The Most Dynamic Quarter In Last 8 Years

Comparing both public data offered by the Driving License and Vehicle Registration Department (DRPCIV), and website data registered in the first three months of 2017, compared with January-March 2016, Autovit.ro experts reached the conclusion that the first quarter of 2017 saw record highs in all categories – both new cars (over 22,000 vehicles were registered), and used cars (over 128,000 vehicles were registered).

According to the analysis, the new car market saw an increase of 27.6% on the year in the first quarter of 2017, but some brands, such as Opel, Citroen, Ford and Renault, saw increases of over 50%. However, Dacia, the leader, saw an increase below market average, of only 11%. The market of imported used cars doubled on the year in January-March 2017, nearing 130,000 units.

If the used car market is expected to rebound sooner or later, the new car market might exceed 110,000 sold units, in 2017, also due to the cash-for-clunkers program expected to set off at the middle of May 2017.
