Klaus Iohannis: Next week I will issue a decree to extend the state of emergency

President Klaus Iohannis said at the end of the meeting held with several members of the Government that, although in Romania there has not been an increase in the number of illnesses as in other countries, it is not the time for Romanians to relax.
"A first conclusion would be that in comparison with other countries the increase in the number of people affected by the epidemic was not as great as we have observed for example in countries where we have many Romanians, I think in Italy, in Spain. This comes from the fact that from time to time we have taken very firm measures. I have to warn you very clearly: this is not the time to relax", said Iohannis.
He said the emergency period will be extended by another month.
"There are moving things. Extension of emergency will be required. I asked the government to come up with proposals, to be included in this decree. At the beginning of next week I will issue a new decree that will extend the state of emergency by another month. This period is absolutely necessary to keep the evolution of the epidemic under control", said the president.
