The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) has announced on Thursday that 17 Romanian citizens are aboard the cruise ship which is in quarantine in Japan.

Of these, two are tourists, while the other 15 are crew members.

Also, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Consulate General of Romania in Hong Kong has urgently requested information from the local authorities regarding the presence of Romanian citizens on board the ship docked in Hong Kong.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the Romanian Embassy in Tokyo and the Romanian Consulate General in Hong Kong are continuing their efforts with the local authorities for additional information and are ready to provide consular assistance if the situation requires.

The Japanese officials have begun testing, on Tuesday, over 3,700 people aboard a quarantine cruise ship near Yokohama port, after a passenger of the vessel had been found to be infected with the coronavirus.
