CMR estimates that around 260 doctors could leave Romania ever month, meaning more than 3000 by the end of the year.

Radulescu said these doctors are hard to replace, since hiring is frozen through current legislation. In addition, patients registered with a family doctor for less than six months are unable to change to a new doctor should their current physician choose to leave the country.
