Romania Avg Bank Rate On New Loans Rises To 11.7% In February
Romanian average banking interest on new loans in national currency leu rose by 1.58 percentage points to 11.7% in February, due to increased rates for new corporate lending, central bank data showed Wednesday.

Bank rates for new corporate loans went up 1.9 percentage points on the month to 11.16%, the highest level since July 2010. Additionally, bank rates for new household loans increased by 1 percentage point to the highest rate in nearly one year at 13.49%, the data showed.
The average bank interest on existing leu-denominated loans also advanced slightly to 12.61% in February, from 12.4% a month earlier.
The effective annual rate (EAR) on leu-denominated consumer loans stood at 17.8% in February, up from 17.5% in January. The EAR on mortgage loans fell to 10.5%, from 10.9% in the previous month.
As to bank deposits, average interests on existing deposits in lei were broadly unchanged at 6.67% in February, while the rates on new deposits rose to 6.37% from 5.9% at the end of January.
Average bank interests on new euro loans stood at 5.68% in February, slightly up on the month, while rates on existing loans in euro were flat at 6.32%.
