Boc had a meeting with Van Rompuy Thursday and insisted Romania should be evaluated correctly for Schengen accession.
"We are aware that Romania will be the outer border of the European Union and we will do and have done everything necessary to secure our borders. All we want is to be fairly evaluated and not be imposed conditions that have nothing to do with Schengen accession. We expect the Hungarian EU presidency to set an accession calendar," said Boc.
Van Rompuy said he appreciates Romania's progress in view of Schengen accession and said this is a priority for the EU's Hungarian presidency. He said Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban gave assurance Hungary will take all the necessary steps to allow Romania and Bulgaria in the Schengen area if they meet all the requirements.
