Romania Leu Gains Vs Euro, Exch Rate At 4.2297

Romania’s leu edged higher against the euro in mid trade Monday and the central bank’s reference strengthened 0.4% at 4.2297 units, from 4.2467 units a day earlier.

Against the US dollar, the leu's indicative advanced nearly 1.2% on the day at 3.1847 units.

The leu opened slightly higher at 4.2385/4.2415 per, from 4.243/4.2415 per euro at closing Friday, and further gained ground, mirroring the currencies in the region.

At around GMT1000, the leu traded at 4.2285/4.2305 to the euro.

On the money market Monday, overnight rates were flat at 3.35%-3.85% a year.
