Boc said in a press conference that there are signs that the Government's austerity measures have done the job and put the economy on track. According to him, "the hardest part" took place in 2010 and, this year, Romanians will begin to reap the benefits of last year's unpopular decisions.
The prime minister said Romania has kept its agreement with the International Monetary Fund, European Union and World Bank, exceeding its requirements with a 6.5% budget deficit in 2010, compared to the stipulated 6.9%, and with an economic contraction that was lower than expected.
