Romania PM Reiterates Commitment To Cancel Minimum Tax On Income

Romania’s government maintains its decision to eliminate the minimum tax on income as of October, Prime Minister Emil Boc told MEDIAFAX Monday.

Boc first announced the measure in July, but he didn't give an exact date.

According to former finance minister Sebastian Vladescu, the minimum tax on income would be replaced with a lump sum tax.

The minimum tax was implemented in May 2009.

Romanian fiscal authority ANAF collected 649.6 million lei (EUR1=RON4.2668) in minimum income taxes in the first half of the year, amounting to around 65% of the total owed amount.
