Dinel Nutu paid EUR50,000 as bail and the court of Bucharest sector 2 admitted his request for release. This ruling can be challenged before the Court of Bucharest.
In February 2012, the Bucharest Court of Appeals annulled Nutu's conviction in another case, concerning the defrauding of the International Bank of Religions (BIR). He had been charged in 2011 with accessory to abuse of office for his role in the bank's bankruptcy and had fled the country, but was apprehended in Hungary after two weeks.
