Romanian Carmaker Dacia Foreign Sales Up 15% On Yr, To 311,000 Units
Romanian carmaker Automobile Dacia's sales on foreign markets grew by 15% last year compared to 2009, to more than 311,000 units, with France accounting for over a third of total exports.

French sales increased by 67%, to 110,076 units, while Dacia's exports to Germany dropped 52%, to 40,500 units, because of the cash-for-clunkers program's expiration.
The third most popular export destination in 2010 was Italy, with sales of 21,930 Dacia cars, followed by Spain, with 21,739 units. The rest of the top 10 markets are Turkey (19,167 units), Algeria (18,578 units), Belgium (11,403 units), Austria (6,068 units), Poland (6,018 units) and the Netherlands (5,557 units).
Rafael Treguer, Dacia's global development manager, expects demand to increase significantly on the Italian and Spanish markets in 2011. The company does not plan to enter new markets this year, but it is preparing to enter the British market in 2012.
In 2010, Dacia received 100,000 foreign orders for its SUV model, the Duster, filling 62,000 by the end of the year.
Dacia sales increased by 12% last year, to 348,723 units from 311,426 units in 2009. Local sales amounted to 36,730 units, down 20.4% compared to 2009.
