Dacia had ceased production on April 22 due to shortages of car parts. Car part delivery problems were caused by suppliers' financial difficulties and had nothing to do with the situation in Japan, which had been rocked by disastrous earthquakes in March, Dacia representatives said at that time.

Dacia manufactures 1,377 cars per day, which means the temporary construction suspension led to an over 5,500-unit deficit in car production.

Dacia, owned by French group Renault, has about 14,000 employees.

The carmaker's sales increased by 12% last year to 348,723 cars from 311,426 units and its market share in Europe increased by 0.3 percentage points to 1.6%. Dacia sold 36,730 cars in Romania, down 20% compared to 2009.
