Romanian Culture Minister Resigns From Cabinet

Diaconu said he is resigning so as not to damage the Government's image.

Puiu Hasotti, leader of the Liberal Party's group in the Senate, has been proposed as Diaconu's replacement by party leader Crin Antonescu.

Romania's High Court of Justice on Tuesday decided that Mircea Diaconu was incompatible with the position of senator, since he was also director of the Nottara Theater in Bucharest.
