Romanian Dacia Car Sales Up 12% In 2010, To 348,723 Units

Sales of Romanian Dacia cars increased by 12% last year, to 348,723 units from 311,426 units in 2009, and the carmaker’s market share in Europe climbed 0.3 percentage points, to 1.6%, French group Renault, owner of Dacia, said Monday.

Dacia sold 325,346 cars last year, up 11.6% compared to 2009, and 23,377 light commercial vehicles, up 17.9% compared to the previous year.

Dacia registered a 4% market share on the French market in 2010, up 1.6 percentage points compared to 2009.

The Renault Group sold 2.62 million cars last year, up 13.7% compared to 2009, when car sales stood at 2.3 million units.

The three main car brands produced by the Renault Group, namely Renault, Dacia and Renault-Samsung Motors, registered an increase in sales last year.
