Romanian carmaker Dacia’s new car registrations in France increased 70.9% on the year in 2010, while overall new car registrations saw a decline of 2.2%, according to the French carmakers’ association.

Dacia, owned by France's Renault, had 104,642 new cars registered in France in 2010. The Romanian carmaker's market share increased from 2.7% in 2009 to 4.6% in 2010. In December, Dacia's new car registrations increased 7.1% compared to the same period in 2009, to 9,288 units.
The French market registered a total 2.251 million new cars in 2010, of which 1.025 million were foreign makes.
The biggest number of new cars registered was posted by PSA Peugeot Citroen, with 728,825 units (-1.3%, market share of 32.4%), followed by Renault with 602,478 units (up 4.2% and a market share of 26.8%).
The foreign carmaker with the most new car registrations in France was Volkswagen (247,037 units, -3.9%).
Counting light commercial vehicles, Dacia's new car registrations in France increased 65.6% in 2010, to 110,076 units and the carmaker had a market share of 4.1%.
