Romanian Econ Min: No Reason For Immediate Gas Price Hikes
Romanian household prices for natural gas should not increase in the near future, since they have no reason to do so, the Economy Ministry said in a statement Wednesday.

"The ministry's point of view is that gas prices should not rise right now. Furthermore, we believe there is no reason for a household price increase in the near future," the institution said.
The amount of natural gas imported from Russia at higher-than-local prices widened to 40% of the total in the first two months this year, from 21% in December 2010.
Authorities pin the wider imports on local stock depletion, citing the use of local reserves to supply local chemical plants.
The price of gas for household consumption is regulated by the energy regulatory authority ANRE, as the ministry also noted.
The government committed to the IMF to deregulate gas prices by 2015, using a calendar set up by September this year.
