Romanian Film And Theater Director Liviu Ciulei Dies

Born on July 7, 1923, Ciulei studied acting and architecture and made his acting debut in 1946 as Puck in Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Odeon Theater in Bucharest.

He made his debut as a theater director at the Bulandra Theater in Bucharest. He was an honorary director of this theater until his death.

Ciulei's spectacular career includes over 20 films which he directed or acted in.

Ciulei also taught theater at Columbia University and New York University.
