Internal Affairs Minister Carmen Dan said that the mobile alert system comes in the aftermath of the extreme storms that have recently taken place in the western part of the country and which claimed the lives of eight people. She emphasized the system’s importance as meteorologists said Romania will be facing nowcasting phenomena more often.
Dan appointed Raed Arafat, head of Emergency Situations Department within the Ministry, as the coordinator for the implementation of the system.
