The act amends the law on the statute of Parliament employees and the unitary wage bill.
Under the current legislation, the position of Parliament employee is incompatible with any other public or private position, except university teacher, scientific researcher and art creator. They are also forbidden to work in autonomous departments or commercial companies in the private or public sectors.
According to the amendment approved by the Government, Parliament employees are only forbidden to work in autonomous bodies and commercial companies in the public sector.
The Government has approved six out of 24 amendments submitted by lawmakers to the unitary wage bill for the public sector, for which the Executive plans to seek a confidence vote in Parliament Tuesday. Of the accepted amendments, five are changes to the frame wage law and one is a change to its application law, the Government said Monday.
The Government held a Cabinet meeting Monday to discuss amendments brought by lawmakers to the unitary wage law. The bill sets that base wages in the public sector are to increase 15% next year compared to October 2010 and the minimum wage will increase to 670 lei (EUR1=RON4.2929) from the current RON600.
Liberal deputy Eugen Nicolaescu, a former health minister, said his party submitted amendments to the wage bill, one of which calls for changes in wage grids for doctors and nurses.
Opposition social democrats submitted no amendments saying they consider the bill unconstitutional and plan to submit a motion of no-confidence over it.
