Romanian Govt Approves Ordinance On Military Pensions

Romania's Government on Friday approved the emergency ordinance which changes the way the pensions of former military personnel are calculated, people close to the matter told MEDIAFAX.

On January 7, the Romanian High Court of Justice ruled to suspend the application of a Government decision recalculating the pensions of military staff, police officers and public servants with special status, who work in penitentiary administration.

President Traian Basescu said the Court's ruling must be respected, so the Government will issue a new decision regarding the application of the base law which enables recalculating the pensions.
