Romania's Government is in negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to raise the gross minimum wage to 700 lei (EUR160) from RON670, said Finance Minister Gheorghe Ialomitianu on Friday.

The minister said talks on this matter will be held with employers' organizations.

Last year, the Government decided to raise the minimum wage from RON600 to RON670, also following negotiations with the IMF. Prime Minister Emil Boc explained at the time that the raise covered the inflation's advance in 2009 and 2010.
