Romanian Govt To Reduce Coastal Building Line To Half

The act amends emergency ordinance 202/2002, concerning the integrated management of the coastal area. It repeals the rule whereby the coastal area is defined according to territorial management and urban plans, "through the care of local public authorities."

The draft states the Government will authorize the central tourism authority and the central environment protection authority to investigate the legal status of property in the coastal area. The tourism authority will also have the right to manage land in the state's public domain located in that area.

The central tourism authority and the central territory management and urban planning authority will take part in defining the coastal area and in classifying it by function, as well as regulating its use, alongside the central environment protection and water management authority and the central agriculture, food and forest authority.

According to the act, the tourism authority will join the central environment protection and water management authority in administering the state's land in coastal areas, beaches, quays and swimming areas.
