Romanian Healthcare Must Adapt To Aging Population – Minister

Romania's healthcare system must adapt first of all to the elderly population, which is growing, Health Minister Ladislau Ritli said Wednesday in the Romanian Healthcare Forum, organized by MEDIAFAX and the National Health Insurance House.

Asked how to provide healthcare to chronic sufferers and elderly people, given the expectation that private insurers will be more interested in young people, who are not as in need of health services, the minister said the system must adapt to the elderly population first of all.

Romania's population shrunk by 7% in ten years, said Ritli, pointing out that its age structure is just as important as its size.
