Romanian Labor Minister Confident IMF Will Accept New Labor Code
Romanian Labor Minister Ioan Botis said Wednesday after a meeting with International Monetary Fund officials he is confident the IMF and International Labor Organization will accept the ministry’s propositions for the country’s new labor code.

Botis said the ministry will also include some of the propositions pt forth by unions, such as internships, but will not discard longer try-out periods and collective labor contract acceptance criteria.
Asked whether he has considered resigning as unions have demanded, the minister said his resignation would not solve anything.
Joint teams from the IMF and the European Commission arrived in Bucharest Tuesday for the seventh and final review of the two-year agreement and for talks on a new deal. The review mission ends on February 8.
