The situation was triggered by a decline of the car and leasing markets and a reduction in people's revenues.
RCA underwritten premiums totaled 2.51 billion lei (EUR1=RON4.1869) last year, up 11.3% compared to 2009, while CASCO underwritten premiums dropped 25.1%, to RON2.49 billion, according to insurance regulator CSA.
Damage claims paid for RCA insurance increased by 1.66% in 2010, to RON1.62 billion, while CASCO damage claims decreased by 14.4%, to RON2.48 billion, said CSA.
According to an XPrimm top, insurer Allianz-Tiriac is ranked first regarding underwritten premiums on the CASCO segment (EUR120 million) and is followed by Omniasig (EUR103 million) and Groupama (EUR90 million).
Insurer Astra is leader on the RCA segment (EUR144 million in underwritten premiums last year) outranking Carpatica Asig and Euroins (EUR63 million in revenues each), Omniasig (EUR60 million) and Allianz-Tiriac (EUR53 million).
Astra's underwritten premiums stood at RON1.11 billion in 2010, up 37% compared to 2009, and was leader on the insurance market.
Allianz-Tiriac registered revenues amounting to RON1.03 billion in 2010, down 20% compared to the previous year.
