The Romanian opposition's motion against the changes to the heating aid system failed to receive the necessary number of votes Monday in the Senate.

The motion, endorsed by 57 senators of the opposition, received 66 votes for, 62 votes against and one abstention.
According to the Senate rules, the motion would have been adopted had it received the vote of the majority, i.e. 69 votes in its favor.
Labor Minister Sulfina Barbu attended the debates in the Senate.
