Romanian Parliament Committees OK Foreign Affairs Ministry’s Draft 2012 Budget

The Romanian Parliament’s committees for foreign affairs on Monday approved with nine to eight votes the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s draft budget for next year.

Foreign Affairs Minister Teodor Baconschi said that, although the institution's budget is 20% higher than that in 2011, it represents 0.0048% of the gross domestic product.

The ministry's total budget amounts to 646 million lei (EUR148.4 million), up 19.53% compared with 2011. About 84.45% of this total sum is ensured from the state budget, and the remainder from the ministry's own revenues or non-reimbursable funds.
