Romanian Parliament Defense Committees OK Interior Ministry’s Draft 2012 Budget

The Romanian Parliament’s defense committees on Monday approved during a joint meeting the draft 2012 budget of the Interior Ministry, of 7.29 billion lei (EUR1.67 billion).

The ministry's budget for next year is lower by 11.39% than that in 2011.

The total budget of the institution, which includes own revenues, foreign loans and non-reimbursable funds, hits RON8.09 billion.

About RON5.98 billion of the sum from the state budget is allotted for staff expenses and some 370 million for goods and services expenses.

The draft budget will be debated by the Parliament's budget and finance committees starting Tuesday.

On Monday, the Parliament's committees debate and vote on the ministries' proposed 2012 budgets. The draft state budget for next year will be debated in a plenary meeting scheduled for December 12.
