Romanian PM Calls On Prefects To Intensify Fight Against Tax Evasion, Illegal Work

Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc on Sunday called on county prefects and work inspection chiefs to intensify the fight against tax evasion and illegal work.

Boc said, during a videoconference with prefects across the country, that 821,692 new work contracts have been signed between May 1 and August 4, adding that, of them, 162,480 have been terminated.

Of the 821,692 new work contracts, 65.9% are on indefinite period.

According to data presented by the prime minister, the total number of work contracts stood at 6,406,908 on August 4, of which 93.2% are indefinite period contracts.

The new Labor Code, for which the Government received a confidence vote in the Parliament, entered force on May 1.
