Romanian President Calls For Healthcare Bill To Be Withdrawn
Romanian President Traian Basescu has called on the prime minister to withdraw the new healthcare bill, having seen that a large part of the public and of the healthcare system do not want it to change.

Speaking in a press conference at the presidential palace, Basescu said very few people, like young doctors or people midway through their careers, support the change.
"Hospitals, family doctors, the emergency service do not want the change," he said, adding that there are signals that a large part of the public also rejects changes to the healthcare system.
Nevertheless, the president warned that corruption in the system is rampant and asked the journalists attending the conference to investigate the "dramatic" state of the emergency services in rural areas.
