Romanian President Traian Basescu arrived Thursday in the Bulgarian capital Sofia, where he is on official visit at the invitation of Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov.

This is the first visit to Bulgaria by a Romanian head of state in the past seven years.
The two heads of state will have face to face talks, followed by talks between the two country's official delegations.
Basescu and Parvanov are also set to sign a series of official documents, including a joint statement regarding the construction of new bridges over the Danube, connecting the two states, followed by joint press statements.
Basescu is also scheduled to attend a meeting of Romanian and Bulgarian businesspeople, followed by a working lunch hosted by Chair of the Bulgarian Parliament, Tsetska Tsacheva, and will then visit the Romanian church in Sofia.
Basescu, who is accompanied by Transport Minister Anca Boagiu, Interior Minister Vasile Blaga, Economy Ministry state secretary Borbely Karoly and fiscal authority head Sorin Blejnar, will also attend a dinner hosted by the Bulgarian president and will return to Bucharest Thursday evening.
