Romanian Ruling Coalition Wants Single Round Of Elections For Mayors
Members of Romania’s ruling coalition decided Monday the Government will back changes to the local election law to allow for mayors to be elected in a single round of elections, Culture Minister Kelemen Hunor told MEDIAFAX.

"The entire coalition agreed and backs this amendment to have mayors elected in a single round of elections," said Kelemen.
He added the coalition has not yet decided whether the current local election law is to be amended through a bill that is already in Parliament or through a bill to be drafted by the Government.
A bill amending the local election law was submitted to Parliament on November 15, 2010 and is currently in the Senate.
