Romania’s Senate committee for legal matters on Tuesday rejected a bill allowing the chemical castration of pedophiles convicted for aggravated sexual abuse.

The committee drew up a report recommending the Senate plenum to reject the bill. Only one committee member, democrat liberal senator Iulian Urban, was in favor of clearing the bill.
The bill is to be put to the vote in the Senate and then sent to the Chamber of Deputies for debates and final vote.
