Romanian Social Democrat Leader Says MEP Adrian Severin Must Resign From Party, EP

The party leader highlighted he will start procedures to oust him unless Severin takes a decision by himself.

Ponta said he is certain Severin is not a victim of conspiracy, but a victim of his own mistake. He said the European MP must assume political responsibility.

Ponta reiterated that the party will comply with the decision taken in this case by the Party of European Socialists and the group of socialists in the EP.

The Socialist Group in the European Parliament said Tuesday Severin was ousted from all positions held within the group. European socialists also call on Severin to resign from the EP.
