"I listened very carefully to Mr. Iohannis when he explained the reasons why it is necessary to extend the state of emergency by another 30 days. I saw a panicked president who, in many words - not at all usual for Mr Iohannis - was trying to convince us of the seriousness of the situation. We all agree that we are not in the best period of our lives, but it is clear that the president's panic does not come from the public data we all have access to, but from data that the authorities keep hidden from us, but do not they can keep away from the presidential institution. I hope", Tăriceanu wrote on Facebook.
It also comes with a calculation regarding the tests performed on Romanians.
"I think Mr Iohannis saw that the figures that the authorities are communicating are just dust in the eyes of the public. I think the president also realized that 66.000 tests does not mean 66.000 people, but less. Much less. That is, around 22.000 Romanians were tested. And if at 22.000 Romanians tested the number of the sick is over 6.600, then the situation is really dramatic. Because that means one in three Romanians tested was found infected with coronavirus. I do not want to do the calculation to see how many Romanians out of the more than 20 million could be coronavirus patients. But probably Mr. Iohannis made this calculation, hence the panic", wrote Tăriceanu, on his Facebook page.
So far, over 6.800 cases of the new coronavirus have been registered in Romania, and the death toll has reached 357.
