Romanian Foreign Minister Adrian Cioroianu on Monday said the ministry’s short-term agenda includes setting up three new consulates in Italian cities Trieste, Bologna and Cosenza.

He said the ministry plans to take a series of actions that fall under the bilateral Convention signed by Romania and Italy. The bilateral Convention stipulates the Italian authorities are bound to inform Romania on deporting measures against Romanians, Cioroianu mentioned.
He said Romania’s image abroad is not a realistic one, which would explain the xenophobic wave against Romanian citizens, and urged both Romanian and Italian businessmen to help correcting the situation.
