Prunariu, member of the Association of Space Explorers, on Tuesday said such an act might be presented in front of the U.N. General Meeting in 2009.
“The act will impose certain rules on the issue for all earth inhabitants, in all countries,” Prunariu said, mentioning leading experts worldwide will contribute to the elaboration of the act.
In his opinion, the responsibility to prevent disasters following a collision between Terra and an asteroid must be assumed by a designated international forum.
The core problem in case of an impact will not be protecting people, as they can be relocated, but avoiding major damages to earth infrastructure, industry and social life, Prunariu said.
Prunariu is the first and so far the only Romanian who flew in space.
