Romanians Working In Italy Sent Nearly EUR3.5B To Romania Over Last Three Yrs- ZF

The Romanians working in Italy, who are now faced with a difficult situation, following the murder of the 47-year old Italian woman Giovanna Reggiani by a Romanian citizen, sent nearly EUR3.5 billion to Romania, during the last three years, and thus significantly contributed to pushing consumption upwards.

Romanian daily Ziarul Financiar made an estimation, within its Wednesday’s edition, based on the current private transfers published by Romania’s central bank BNR.
In the first eight months of the year alone, the Romanian people working in Italy sent over EUR1.7 billion to Romania, namely, 40% of the total sum transferred to Romania from abroad during this period, according to the data provided by BNR.
