Romania To Keep Car Tax- Econ Min

Romanian minister of Economy and Finance on Friday said the authorities have not considered eliminating the first registration tax on cars, but will analyze amending it in the upcoming period.

The Executive is waiting for a reply from the European Commission, Varujan said, mentioning he will go to Brussels for talks after the elections for the European Parliament on Sunday.

 

The European Commission will discuss Romania’s disputed tax on cars next week, sooner than initially established, following administrative changes, sources with the Commission told MEDIAFAX Friday.

 

Romania decided late April to change its car tax regime, which discriminated imported used cars from domestic ones, after the European Union threatened to take legal action against the country.
