Quintus was the president of honor of the National Liberal Party, of which he had been member for over 70 years. He was widely considered a symbol of Romanian liberalism and his career included positions such as president of the Senate and justice minister.

Quintus was also a writer known for his epigrams.

The politician’s death triggered strong reactions on Romania’s political scene. President Klaus Iohannis said that Quintus’ political legacy will carry on, testament to the democracy and liberal spirit he promoted throughout his life, while former president Ion Iliescu said that Quintus represented the quintessential politician that everybody appreciates, regardless of the political beliefs.
