Train Car Loaded With Dangerous Substances Derails In Caras-Severin County

According to the local Emergency Situations Inspectorate (ISU) office, the train car derailed near the Toplet train station, approximately one kilometer away from the Orsova train station.

The train was loaded with petroleum gas, hydrocarbon and liquefied gas, among others.

“The derailed train car did not overturn, it just went off the tracks. No fissures or leaks were recorded following the incident. A team of military firefighters were sent to the area to ensure safety,” ISU Caras-Severin announced.

Following the incident, railway traffic between Toplet and Drobeta Turnu Severin was closed throughout Tuesday morning.
