As a trend, this is the most optimistic estimate among European countries, as 2018 was marked by unprecedented growth in the cost of private medical services in Romania, Mercer Marsh Benefits said in a press release Thursday.
It said information received from insurance companies in Romania showed the medical inflation rate in Romania stood at 15% in 2018, nearly triple compared with the general inflation rate.
In Europe, the medical inflation rate grew half a percentage point in 2018, to an average of 8.1%. Romania had the fourth largest growth in medical costs in Europe after Ukraine (+23.5%), Hungary (+19.2%) and Turkey (+15.5%), the Mercer Marsh Benefits report noted.
