„It is a reaction, somehow, of prevention, of the significant risk, it seems, at this moment, that the motion will pass. It is a political move that the Government and the prime minister have made precisely to ensure that in the situation where the motion will pass today, and they will no longer be able to issue decrees, they will have to regulate those issues that they considered to be priorities”, has said USR president Dan Barna.
Asked if the Orban Government was entitled to make the decision to issue so many emergency decrees, he said that, „at the moment, we are in a significant political crisis and thus these measures are being adopted”.
„The point is that many of the measures we are striving today to adopt and for which the Government breaks down, either by assuming responsibility or by ordinances, had to be taken much longer ago, in December, just to have the time to get out of the political crisis. At the moment, we are entering a significant political crisis and then these measures are adopted which can be discussed in terms of opportunity”, said the USR leader.
Barna has said he hopes Tuesday will not be the last day of the PNL Government at Victoria Palace.
„The real stake for Romania is that the citizens have the opportunity to elect their mayors in two rounds, the chance that in the next four years we will benefit from competent mayors, not being stuck in by the parties”, he added.
He underscored that all USR MPs will vote against the motion.
The Orban government adopted, at a meeting that ended at midnight on Tuesday evening, 25 emergency decrees.
