The violent incident occurred Monday evening, in Aprilia, a town some 25 kilometers south of Rome. After the attack with petrol bombs, some ten assailants smashed the windows of the cars parked in front of the shelter, which belonged to the immigrants. Six cars were damaged, two of which were set on fire with Molotov cocktails.
Despite the brutality of the attack, none of the people in the shelter was injured. Passer-by witnesses noticed some ten Italian youths, while authorities suspect that this might be retaliation against the Romanian community.
