Ciocan said the call was received at 11:50 local time, from Bucharest. As the caller did not say which building was supposedly threatened, both buildings were evacuated immediately.

Bomb technicians have arrived at the scene and the are has been isolated.

"If caught, the caller is liable to three to twelve years in prison, as such a deed is considered an act of terror,” Ciocan said.

Bucharest courthouses have been evacuated in the past over bombs threats that turned out to be pranks.
