Călin Georgescu finds out on Tuesday whether he can run in the presidential elections

Pro-Russian candidate Călin Georgescu finds out on Tuesday whether or not he will be able to run in May's presidential elections. The Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) meets to debate the candidacies of Călin Georgescu and Nicuşor Dan.

CCR has announced that it will meet on Tuesday at 5 PM (local time) to debate the appeal lodged by Călin Georgescu against the rejection of his candidacy by the BEC.

Also on Tuesday, the appeal regarding Nicuşor Dan’s candidacy will be heard.

”Today, March 10, 2025, was registered at the Constitutional Court the appeal lodged by Mr. C.G. against the Decision of the Central Electoral Bureau No. 18D/9.03.2025 on the non-registration of the independent candidacy of Mr. Călin Georgescu Georgescu and the electoral sign in the elections for President of Romania in 2025”, CCR said.

AUR leader, George Simion, announced that Mr. Georgescu has challenged the Central Electoral Bureau’s decision to reject his candidacy at the CCR.

Also on Monday was registered at the Constitutional Court ”the appeal lodged by S.C.A. against the Decision of the Central Electoral Bureau no.17D/9.03.2025 on the registration of the independent candidacy of Nicuşor-Daniel Dan and the electoral sign for the elections for President of Romania in 2025”.
