Representatives of the European Commission met the Romanian Ministry of Justice. During the meeting they discussed the progress of justice in Romania and not the elections, Minister Radu Marinescu revealed.
The minister also said that the message from the Romanian side was that Romania is a state governed by the rule of law and that the Romanian judiciary currently has all the aptitudes to function without any interference, Radu Marinescu told CNN’s Antena 3 on Tuesday.
As for the decision expected on Tuesday from the CCR on the candidacy of Călin Georgescu, the justice minister said he expected all state institutions and citizens to respect the law.
Marinescu also said that justice is and must remain apolitical. No one is above the law and regardless of our position, we must respect the law and to the extent that we break the law, we must answer to the law, said the Minister of Justice.
