"Besides the fact that the leu appreciated along with regional currencies, it seems that the National Bank of Romania was again present in the market,” said a dealer with a foreign bank in Bucharest.
The leu closed at 3.67/6750 to the euro, compared with 3.7240/7250 on Thursday.
The leu opened at 3.7080/7100 to the euro, the day’s low against the European currency, and touched a day’s high at 3.6670 against the euro.
On the money market, overnight rates were at 8.75/9.25%.
