The council of ministers, at the proposal of interior minister Giuliano Amato and European policy minister Emma Bonino, approved a law-decree amending the enforcement procedure for European norms regarding free movements and residential rights of EU citizens and their families, Il Velino online reported.
The amendments enacted by the Italian government were needed to correct a series of “errors” of the law-decree adopted late October which allowed the easy expulsion of foreign citizens considered a threat to public safety.
