Romania Lacks 17 Employees/Company On Avg – Poll

Labor force shortage in Romania is of 17 employees per company on average, and might go up to 29 employees, especially in sectors requiring skilled workers, according to a poll by the Council for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, or SMEs.

Romania has over 400,000 SMEs, which account for some 98% of the total number of companies din. Of the total number of SMEs, some 80% are micro-companies.

Micro-companies employ up to nine people, while small companies employ ten to 49 and medium-sized companies employ 50 to 249 people. SMEs include companies with a net annual turnover of up to EUR50 million or have total assets not exceeding EUR43 million.

Skilled construction workers are hardest to find, followed by turners, plumbers, carpenters, welders, electricians, painters, auto mechanics, technicians, farmers, drivers, security guards, pest control agents and sales agents.

Companies also reported shortages of staff with medium education, such as chemist technicians, as well as with high education studies, such as architects and engineers.

The poll included 234 SMEs.
